Holy bug--

I woke up the other morning to a rain storm which hardly EVER happens here in the desert and I thought it would be fun to go outside and place my feet on wet sidewalk.  Upon opening my door I saw a small animal under one of our drains and decided to check it out.  When I got closer and saw the antena and spindly feet, I realized nay it wasn't an animal but some sort of SICK bug.  I couldn't belive how big it was.  And no I have no idea what the heck it is either.  Just stay out of my house.
I decided to take a picture with Jaitz to get some perspective of how big it was and then realized that was stupid.  However, I did get a great side glance from Jaitz.
Here is a better perspective.  I grabbed my shoe (women's size eight) and plopped it by the beastly bug.

Then I promptly kicked it into the bushes with said shoe.  I was not going to step on it because who knows what kind of mess I would have been left with.  I thought it was dead but it's legs started twitching so I just figured I'd let nature take its course without me getting involved.

That is the sickest bug EVER! I hate bugs and wish their death daily but that's rude and now I feel bad. Great side by side comparisons though. It needed to be done. I LOVE your family picture! It is beautiful! Love you tons!

Okay, so a few things....
1. Your family picture is amazing. Made me want a lime Popsicle.

2. I would have pooped a shred or two if I saw that bug, so well done for being well controlled with your bowels.

3. I think Jaitz is showing fear. Which is good to validate the severity of the situation.

4. We blogged on the same day, which means we are best friends. And also, that we ignored our children for at least 25 minutes. Go us.
LOVE YOU MAN!

That, my friend, is a palo verde beetle. One flew into my car when I was in high school and I may or may not have called the fire department to get that sucker out. PS, they bite and they fly. And they fly like they are drunk, and will dive bomb your head.
