Olympics

Zac and I have really gotten into the olympics this winter for some reason. I blame it on the economy. We have realized during the duration of the 2010 winter olympics that we like to, let's say, make observations of people, jerseys, facial expressions, costumes, and the announcers. It really makes it entertaining to make one of these said observations, and then have the other one laugh in approval. We realize yes, we may be a bit mean and yes, we have admitted it, but sometimes these athletes are begging for a ripe poke of harmless fun.

The one thing I feel bad about is when we secretly want someone to explode down a ski hill or on the ice. The other day we were watching women's downhill skiing and I don't think I have seen that many wipeouts in thirty minutes. I didn't feel too bad because everyone got up of their own accord and were fine. If they were really hurt, then I might feel a bit bad. The great thing about DVR is that we get to A)skip the crap we can't handle (why did they broadcast Russia vs. Czechoslovakia hockey....we live in AMERICA) and B) we get to rewind all the wrecks and watch them in super slow motion.

We were watching snowboard cross when this beast of a man kept entering all the frames of the camera before the snowboarders started their race. He was yelling and whooping and hollering and was wearing a USA sweatshirt. His name: Pete Lavin. His title: no one is quite sure...possibly the pump up man for the USA ski/snowboard teams. Then making a great observation, Zac says "Will Ferrell really needs to do a parody of this guy."

This Pete Lavin guy reminds me of the sketch Will did on SNL called "Get off the Shed". Check it out. I would post a video of Pete but there weren't any. Trust me, he is Will Ferrell in this sketch.

It is the little things like this that have kept me entertained with my guy Zac. We have heaps of fun together, even if it is rewinding the clip of the dude that chucked his partner onto the ice during ice dance.
